REVOLUTIONARY 3D / 4D BABY SCANNING
Routine scans given at 12 and 20 weeks are invaluable in checking the development and growth of an unborn baby, services offered by BabyScan UK do not replace these medical procedures but offer a complimentary service and chance for a unique keepsake.
BabyScan UK offers a range of packages in revolutionary baby scanning - giving parents the chance to see digital 3D and 4D live images of their child, which can be recorded on CD at various stages in pregnancy.
At BabyScan UK your heartbeat montoring or ultrasound scan is performed in a relaxed, comfortable environment with your partner, family, friends or older children. ​

Most scanning sessions last between 20 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the package you have selected. At BabyScan UK though, we appreciate that the scanning process is a momentous event during he pregnancy stage and we want you to enjoy the experience, so you'll never be rushed.
ABOUT YOUR SCAN
Before your 4D scan begins you'll have a quick informal chat with the ultrasound technicians to confirm details of your pregnancy, discuss your expectations from the appointment and any concerns that you may have. You can also let us know if you'd like to know the sex of your baby.
​Once the scan begins high definition images from our HD Live ultrasound machine are displayed on a large, widescreen monitor or projector for you to see. After the scan, we'll finalise your chosen BabyScan UK package. The images and/or video from your package will be available to take away on the day of your appointment.
Like a normal photo, the best 4D pictures are only obtained when your baby looks toward the camera (in this case the ultrasound transducer/wand!). ​

We also need a window of fluid to be in front of the baby so that we can see through it to your baby's face. However, the position of your baby and the amount of fluid around it are factors beyond anyone's control and so the quality of your baby images are determined by how well your baby cooperates on the day.
Nevertheless, with our experience and little persistence we are usually able to coax even the most camera shy babies into view! Please allow up to 60 minutes for your scan, in case your baby is not in an ideal position and for preparation of your edited media.
WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOUR SCAN
​3D/4D ultrasound depends on the position of baby and the amount of fluid around babies face. Sometimes the baby is lying in such a position that it is impossible to obtain good images. However, you can help prepare for a successful scan...
Please drink 2 extra glasses of water every day, starting a week before your scan; this will help to keep you well hydrated.
Try to find half an hour a day to relax, gently stroke and massage your tummy.
On the day of your scan, have a meal around 2 hours before you arrive at BabyScan UK.
About 10-20 minutes before your scan, have some sweets, fizzy pop or fresh fruit - this often helps to get baby moving!
Try to arrive 15- 30 minutes early and take a short walk
Usually the scanning time will range from 10-30 minutes to allow for 5, 10 or 15 minute recording as your baby may not be in an ideal position on arrival. ​
WHAT HAPPENS DURING YOUR SCAN?
​All of our scan packages start with a quick well-being scan. We will show you your baby’s heart beating and at this point we can look for baby’s gender (package dependant) - if you do not want to discover the sex of your baby we simply won’t look. Next we will position you and your baby for 3D and 4D scanning.
The quality of the images is naturally dependent on the position that your baby is in, either profile or full face, and the amount of amniotic fluid that’s in front of the face – the more fluid the better the scan images are. You will see baby’s movements and facial expressions. If a baby is lying face down or is tucked behind the placenta it will be hard to get good images and if this is the case we will ask you to change position, take a walk, eat something, or have a drink - encouraging the baby to move.​
​​The appointment length for our 3D/4D scans is approximately 30 to 45 minutes depending on which package you choose. This allows for the scanning procedure, plus the preparation of media and prints for you to take away. ​

​The BabyScan UK 3D/4D baby imaging studio is privately owned and operated. The business is part of the Discount Pram Centre Group.
Our BabyScan UK studio has been specifically designed to offer future parents, family and friends a relaxed environment. We have installed a comfortable waiting area with hot and cold refreshments and uniquely offer a children’s play area to keep older siblings busy whilst you wait and undergo the scanning procedure.
Ultimately we want your Baby Scan to be a relaxed, wonderful and enjoyable experience, giving you and your loved ones memories that will last a life time and a bonding experience that is truly unique.

Please note each scan room is styled differently. For example the 4D scan room in Nelson projects the experience with a HD projector, while the scan room in Cwmbran uses a large 55" inch monitor.
